Each used fluorescent lamp is inserted in the inlet pipe falling by gravity and negative pressure inside the drum (solid storage unit).

Inside the drum, the lamp is mechanically destroyed by a system of chains connected to the shaft of an electric motor placed in the middle of the unit, shearing the entire lamp.

Solid and gas wastes are generated by grinding. The solid waste consists of particles of glass, aluminum and phosphor. This waste falls to the bottom of the unit (drum). The lighter waste (micro particulate dust) is aspired by a rubber hose into the ventilation and filtering unit.

This unit has 03 filtering stages for capturing the micro particulates. The micro particulates are captured by coarse filters (class g3/ABNT 6401) and absolute filters (class a3/ABNT 6401) and activated carbon filter. The aspiration centrifugal fan is installed on the bottom of the filtering unit, returning the air aspirated in the inlet pipe, after purifying, to the atmosphere.

The equipment is controlled by the electro-electronic control unit consisting of start and protection switch for the electric motors of the grinder and fan. There is also a system for digital indication of lamp counting, for replacing the filters by indicating green and red LEDs. The control system has a safety device that prevents the operation of the machine after a certain number of lamps, established in advance for assuring filtering efficiency.
